I don’t think I’ve ever blogged about a crowdfunding campaign that I wasn’t directly involved with, but this one really strikes a chord with me and so I wonder if it might strike a chord with you, too.
A new team is trying to revive knitwear production at the almost century-old Ohio Knitting Mills, and I really like what their goals are and how they aim to reach them.
It seems to me that more and more craft/maker-related businesses are turning to crowdfunding for things they should probably just go get a traditional small-business loan for. In this case, the Ohio Knitting Mills seem to be embarking on a reasonable community-building adventure – one that, perhaps most importantly, invites people that aren’t in the Cleveland area to participate in the preservation and revitalization of a historically significant venture that has the potential to become a very significant contemporary business.
Take a look, share it around, and support it if your chord has, indeed, been struck.
Kim,
Thank you so much for the support, and for sharing our story with your community. It is honestly so humbling to see how many people are with us on this journey. Thank you, thank you!!
